S03E07 The Cure 'Wish'
Wednesday Apr 08, 2020
Wednesday Apr 08, 2020
We're back with a proper episode! Yes - we, two men in our 40s, worked out how to use Zoom and managed to record this episode while sitting in our pants in our respective bedrooms. And it turned out surprisingly well if we do say so ourselves. Another album that neither of us had actually ever heard before but obviously we know plenty of Cure songs so we were looking forward to this one.
Along the way we discuss L7, how Dave was almost a goth in sixth form and the Sisters of Mercy.
Companion playlist is here, links to all our social media are on our website www.pclpodcast.com and keep an eye on our facebook page for details of when our next live music quiz will be (hint: probably every Friday evening during the coronavirus lockdown at 8pm GMT).

Lockdown 90s Music Quiz 01
Wednesday Apr 01, 2020
Wednesday Apr 01, 2020
It's Pop, Isolate & Listen this week! Everywhere is on lockdown so we decided to put together a 90s based music quiz which we held live on our Facebook page but have also uploaded for you here in case you missed it at the time. We'll hopefully be back with our normal programming next week but in the meantime test your knowledge and let us know on our social media how you did.
Big thanks to Chris Green of Tyketto for helping us out with the music round, the man is a guitar god as you will hear on here.
If you want to test your friends with this quiz you can download the PDF of the questions and answers here.

S03E06 Beastie Boys 'Check Your Head'
Wednesday Mar 25, 2020
Wednesday Mar 25, 2020
Bonus episode alert - this was never a number one album but it's held in such high regard by both Dave and Krister that we figured it deserved an episode to discuss it. And we got our friend Si Sharp from Beat Rehab in to help us as well since he's a massive fan of it too. So we understand this is a very niche one and won't appeal to everyone, feel free to skip it if you want! But it was lots of fun to record and hopefully we can convince you that this is one of the best albums ever.
You can check out more of Si's ramblings and recommendations at Beat.Rehab where he writes about music or whatever comes into his head, and you can also often hear him guest on the brilliant Dancing About Architecture podcast as well.
The companion playlist for this episode is available on our Spotify profile but to be honest you could just search for this album as that's all we really chat about. Hope you enjoy it!

S03E05 Right Said Fred 'Up'
Wednesday Mar 18, 2020
Wednesday Mar 18, 2020
We knew it was coming - looming on our timeline like a brash, bald, pop behemoth. And here we are - Right Said Fred's actual debut album. Obviously we knew the singles already but weren't sure what to expect from the rest of it. Who know, maybe it's full of pleasant pop surprises, we shall have to see.
We do get to discover the link between Jimi Hendrix, RSF and Taylor Swift though which seems unlikely but is actually true, and we reveal a US alt-rock band that almost took Right Said Fred on tour with them in 1992 until their management pointed out what a dreadful idea that actually was.
Check out our companion playlist as always with the full album we discuss and loads of other tunes we talk about, and head to our website for crap memes and links to our various social media.

S03E04 Annie Lennox 'Diva'
Wednesday Mar 11, 2020
Wednesday Mar 11, 2020
Annie Lennox's debut solo album and one that neither of us really knew much about apart from the big singles. And to be honest we remember not thinking much of those at the time as well but that was nearly 30 years ago so perhaps we are being too harsh and a new listen will prove teenage us wrong.
We also have brief chats about Curtis Stigers, ZZ Top and SL2, all included on this episode's Spotify playlist alongside the full 'Diva' album and a couple of other bits that we mention this week.
Check out our website www.pclpodcast.com for links to all our social media and all that stuff.

S03E03 Def Leppard 'Adrenalize'
Wednesday Mar 04, 2020
Wednesday Mar 04, 2020
Do you wanna get rocked? That's what we're all REALLY asking ourselves all the time, isn't it? Well, maybe Def Leppard's 1992 album 'Adrenalize' can provide some answers. For this one we are joined by special guest Darren who is Dave's oldest friend and a massive Lep fan from the 'Hysteria' album days. But what did he think of this follow up? What did Dave and Krister think for that matter?
Spotify playlist for this one is here and social media links are all at our website www.pclpodcast.com.I suppose a rock's out of the question?

S03E02 Bruce Springsteen 'Human Touch'
Wednesday Feb 26, 2020
Wednesday Feb 26, 2020
The Boss is back with a long awaited album. In fact he's back with two released on the same day, but we're just looking at the one that got to number on in March 1992, Human Touch. Neither Dave nor Krister knew this one at all, or much Bruce Springsteen in general if truth be told outside of the big hits. Will this be the one that converts them to megafans?
Outside of Bruce we talk about a LOT of other fantastic music that was being released in this time period by acts such as Body Count, PJ Harvey and Tool. Check out our weekly Spotify companion playlist with lots of the good stuff on there. And links to various other stuff and social media are all at our website www.pclpodcast.com

S03E01 Wet Wet Wet 'High On The Happy Side'
Wednesday Feb 19, 2020
Wednesday Feb 19, 2020
Good crikey, it's Season 3 of Pop, Collaborate & Listen! And what better way to start off our journey through 1992's number one albums than Wet Wet Wet? Well, probably loads of ways to be honest but we don't make the rules. We just listen to what the pop charts dictate and then whinge about it for an hour or so each week.
Neither Dave nor Krister had ever heard this whole album before because of course not so it really was a journey into the unknown. Obviously we were familiar with the big 80s hits that the band had released and with their seemingly neverending cover version of 'Love Is All Around' but this album was unfamiliar territory. Did it convert us to a newfound love of Pellow & Co? We shall have to see.
During our conversation we look at an absolute ton of other releases that came out in the six week period at the start of 1992, there are some absolute treasures that we chat about like KISS, Daisy Chainsaw and Sultans of Ping just for starters. Seriously though, check out this week's Spotify playlist of the whole Wet Wet Wet album and all the other stuff we talk about - it's fantastic. And as usual please do feel free to get in contact via any method you choose, lots of links to do so at our website www.pclpodcast.com
