S02E14a Guns & Roses 'Use Your Illusion II'
Tuesday Nov 12, 2019
Tuesday Nov 12, 2019
Dave's been looking forward to this one for weeks - G'n'R are one of his favourite bands of all time and he played this album over and over in his youth so he's got LOTS to say about it. Krister had never heard it before now and only really knows the big tunes off 'Appetite For Destruction' so he was pretty nervous going into this one. Will it be as good as Dave remembers? Will it be as bad as Krister fears?
Amidst all the discussion of why Axl Rose is such a dickhead sometimes we manage to fit in chat about Soundgarden, Rozalla and Prince as well.
Companion playlist for this one available here and all other stuff at our website www.pclpodcast.com. Enjoy! And look out for our extra bonus podcast where we discuss 'Use Your Illusion I' even though it wasn't actually a number one album. Dave insisted on it.

S02E13 Dire Straits 'On Every Street'
Tuesday Nov 05, 2019
Tuesday Nov 05, 2019
After the all-conquering monolith that was 'Brothers In Arms', Dire Straits returned in 1991 with the long-awaited follow-up 'On Every Street'. So is it as good? Did it spawn another groundbreaking cartoon video of removal men carrying fridges? The answer to at least one of those questions is "no".
But while talking about it we do get the chance to chat about other things such as Marky Mark & the Funky Bunch, Mr Bungle's first album and finding out that NIN's 'Pretty Hate Machine' came out two years before Dave thought it did. Mind BLOWN.
The playlist with everything that we talk about this week on it can be found here and you can always head to www.pclpodcast.com for all the links to everything else and a bunch of stupid photos.

S02E12 Metallica 'Metallica'
Wednesday Oct 30, 2019
Wednesday Oct 30, 2019
Oh boy, this is a big one! Dave is a huge Metallica fan already and Krister likes a lot of the big tunes but how will he get on with the full album? Is it as good today as Dave remembers from when he was a teenager? I mean, probably, yeah.
Listen as we discuss whether Metallica ripped another band off for 'Enter Sandman'; is Kid Rock's use of the 'Sad But True' sample a legally punishable crime; is that REALLY an actual song about turning into a werewolf? And along the way we chat about Cypress Hill, Prodigy and Will Smith's VERY variable musical output.
All of the songs we play and chat about are on our weekly companion Spotify playlist and head to www.pclpodcast.com as usual for links to everything else.

S02E11 Cher 'Love Hurts'
Wednesday Oct 23, 2019
Wednesday Oct 23, 2019
This week sees us listening to a Cher album. Like, in full and everything. This is like the tail end of when she was a soft rock queen, before she became a dancefloor icon and ruined autotune for eternity.
We also get the chance to talk about Anthrax, Therapy? and Vanilla Ice along the way which is always a treat. Our weekly playlist combining the album in question and all of the various songs we chat about can be found here. And head to www.pclpodcast.com for links to our ever-growing ongoing Spotify playlist with songs from every album we cover as well as all of our social media details and a load of stupid photoshopped album covers.

S02E10 Seal 'Seal'
Wednesday Oct 16, 2019
Wednesday Oct 16, 2019
After two (quite self-indulgent, we know) episodes which weren't strictly about number one albums of the 90s we are back on track with a listen to Seal's debut self-titled album which was number one for three weeks in mid 1991. We both remember and like the single 'Crazy' - will the rest of the album hold some previously unknown (to us) delights? We shall see.
While we're here we also talked about Skid Row, Type O Negative and the infamous second NWA album in quite some depth. Oh, and Crystal Bastard Waters as well.
The companion playlist of everything we chat about can be heard here and links to all of our social media are at our website www.pclpodcast.com. Enjoy!

S02E09b Bonus Episode Part Two - Smashing Pumpkins 'Gish'
Wednesday Oct 09, 2019
Wednesday Oct 09, 2019
Following straight on from last week's episode this is the second half of the bonus podcast we recorded to discuss a couple of albums that were released while Eurythmics Greatest Hits was number one and were pretty special to us. This week sees us talk about the Smashing Pumpkins' debut album 'Gish' which was released on May 28th 1991 and made a big impact on at least one of your hosts at the time.
Before that though we cover the singles chart in this period and manage to squeeze in opinions on Definition Of Sound, Rebel MC and the long-forgotten Five Thirty among myriad others.
All the songs we chat about are on our companion playlist for your listening-along pleasure and details of how to get in touch or follow us on social media are at our website on www.pclpodcast.com

We know, we know - we're not supposed to do episodes on Greatest Hits or compilations but the Eurythmics album was number one for ten weeks in total and during that time two of our very favourite albums were released so we thought we'd take the chance to bend the rules and put out a couple of bonus episodes to wax lyrical about them. This week you'll hear us talking about Eurythmics (albeit quite briefly) and then you'll hear us going on at length about one of Dave's favourite albums, Primus's 'Sailing The Seas Of Cheese'. He chooses five tracks from it as a sampler which we have a listen to and discuss. We also have a talk about loads of other really great albums that came out in this ten week period of 1991 - it's genuinely an exciting time for music so please forgive us as we get excited about things that we love.
Part two will come out next week and then it normal service will be resumed after that. The playlist for this week's episode can be found here and head to our website www.pclpodcast.com for loads of other playlists, links to social media and terrible, terrible photoshop jokes in the gallery. Cheers!

S02E08 R.E.M. 'Out Of Time'
Wednesday Sep 25, 2019
Wednesday Sep 25, 2019
HOLD THE PHONE. Has 1991 finally given us what could actually be described as a 'classic album'? Well, both Dave and Krister remember it fondly and it's certainly touted as a classic but does it stand up to scrutiny nearly 30 years later? We shall see.
The conversation takes us down the usual strange pathways making mention of the likes of Chesney Hawkes and Megadeth and we also see Dave making a comparison between one of the REM songs and a certain Kenny Loggins tune - is he right or just mental? You decide.
The full companion Spotify playlist with all the REM songs and many of the other tunes we chat about is available to listen to here. The rest of our playlists and various nonsense (and links to our social media) are, as ever, at www.pclpodcast.comThe podcasts we mentioned this week are available to check out at the following links, they really are excellent and you should definitely check them out (tell them we sent you so we get some credit for being cool):
